KOLONIA, Pohnpei (July 28, 2026) — Acting Governor Herolyn S. Movick hosted representatives from the U.S. Navy Seabees and the U.S. Navy Liaison Officer from Guam for a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Office today. The meeting focused on reaffirming the bilateral partnership and reviewing humanitarian infrastructure initiatives within the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).
The visiting delegation included Lieutenant (LT) Sean Worth, U.S. Navy Construction Battalion (Seabee) Officer-in-Charge and Liaison Officer (Outgoing), and Lieutenant (Junior Grade) (LTJG) Charles “Chuck” Ledbetter, U.S. Navy Construction Battalion (Seabee) Liaison Officer (Incoming).
The Navy Liaison Officer detailed current civic engagement efforts, including the deployment of a 14-member Seabee team in Chuuk State. The team is currently executing community infrastructure and humanitarian projects as part of a six-month mission, with similar future engagements planned for other FSM states. Specific areas of continued U.S. support for Pohnpei include improvements to schools and public facilities, as well as youth, education, and public health programs. These initiatives are part of a broader commitment to long-term community development and disaster preparedness.
“We are grateful for the continued friendship and support of the United States Navy,” said Acting Governor Movick. “The humanitarian work of the Seabees reflects a shared commitment to improving the well-being of our communities and strengthening the longstanding ties between our peoples.”
Movick emphasized the Pohnpei State Government’s intention to maintain close coordination with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Embassy in Kolonia. Collaborative efforts will continue to target infrastructure resilience, education, and public health across the state
