Governor Oliver Meets Student Takeover Day Governor Solomon

On Wednesday, February 18, 2021, T.H. Reed B. Oliver, Governor of Pohnpei State received Mr. Remenster Johna from the Department of Education and Mr. Aike Solomon, a Senior at Our Lady of Mercy High School.  Mr. Solomon has been selected by the Department of Education to be Governor during Student Takeover Day on February 23, 2021.

Governor Oliver welcomed Mr. Johna and Mr. Solomon to the Governor’s Office.  He gave a brief overview of the Governor’s roles and responsibilities describing the job as challenging and oftentimes lonely because the Governor must make the final decisions after all experts have provided their recommendations.  He described the makeup of the Governor’s Office and gave Mr. Solomon a tour of the offices, meeting members of his staff and the Lieutenant Governor, T.H. Feliciano M. Perman.

Also joining Governor Oliver and Mr. Solomon was Ms. Leila Lane who has been identified as the Student Speaker for this year’s Takeover Day.
