FSM Acting Attorney General pays a courtesy call on Governor Joseph, seeks help with Kangaroo Court, JLEA, and Kapingamarangi sub-station

Kolonia, Pohnpei: January 18, 2024 – FSM Acting Attorney General, Leonito Bacalando Jr., accompanied by FSM Maritime Police Commander Steward Peter, and Acting Chief of FSM National Police, Cynthia Ludrick, paid a courtesy call on Governor Stevenson A. Joseph at the Governor’s Office. Acting AG Bacalando commenced the meeting with congratulations to Governor Joseph and sought his support for the lease renewal of “Kangaroo Court,” a crucial site housing Royal Australian Navy Advisors to the FSM’s Patrol Boats, situated on Pohnpei State public lands. Additionally, Acting AG Bacalando sought the Governor’s support for a joint law enforcement agreement and discussed the establishment of a maritime support sub-station on Kapingamarangi for urgent issues and border security. Governor Joseph affirmed the importance of these matters and pledged to assist. He also raised concerns about water supplies on the Outer Islands due to dry weather conditions caused by El Nino, informing Acting AG Bacalando that a formal request for assistance is imminent.
