Courtesy Call by FSM Vital PetroCorp Officials to Governor Stevenson A. Joseph: Collaboration for Renewable Energy Projects

Kolonia, Pohnpei: February 22, 2024 – Governor Stevenson A. Joseph welcomed a delegation from FSM Vital PetroCorp, led by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jarred Morris. The delegation included Executive Assistant Mr. Joseph Saimon, Advisor on Alternative Energy Mr. Marcelino Actoucka, and Project Manager Mr. Andrew Musrasrik, a recent civil engineering graduate.

CEO Morris presented proposed energy and water security projects to Governor Joseph during the courtesy call. The focus of the discussion was on renewable energy projects that could potentially reduce energy costs in the region. CEO Morris highlighted the possibility of merging solar and hydro renewable energy with diesel to create a balanced and cost-effective energy blend.

Governor Joseph received the proposal positively and shared his administration’s priority of lowering the tariff for electricity. He expressed enthusiasm for exploring renewable energy solutions that align with this objective. The Governor emphasized that the integration of renewable energy projects is a crucial aspect of his administration’s agenda for a sustainable and affordable energy future.

Mr. Actoucka reiterated the importance of incorporating these renewable energy projects into the Governor’s priorities, underscoring the potential benefits for the community and the region.

Encouraged by the alignment of goals, both parties agreed on the next steps. Vital PetroCorp will draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the proposed renewable energy projects for review by Governor Joseph. The collaborative effort aims to formalize a partnership that will contribute to the sustainable development and energy security of Pohnpei.

The Governor expressed his commitment to the process, emphasizing that the proposed projects align with the strategic vision of his administration. The ensuing collaboration holds promise for advancing renewable energy initiatives and achieving tangible benefits for the people of Pohnpei.
