Joseph held a crucial meeting with President Simina and key cabinet members to discuss the follow-up on Emergency Declaration 2024–01 issued by Pohnpei State, addressing dry weather conditions and insufficient water supply. President Simina expressed gratitude to Governor Joseph for promptly transmitting the declaration and reiterated the National Government’s support for Pohnpei State.
Secretary of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management (DECCEM), Hon. Andrew Yatilman emphasized the necessity for subsequent reports assessing the full impact of the dry weather and water supply situation. Governor Joseph assured President Simina and Secretary Yatilman that these reports are underway, highlighting the ongoing efforts of Pohnpei Utilities Corporation to enhance water system capacity through the installation of new wells and additional pipes to pump water from upper ponds.
