Pohnpei Sports Commission Briefs Governor Joseph on Preparations for the Micronesian Games 2024

Kolonia, Pohnpei: February 13, 2024 – A delegation from the Pohnpei Sports Commission, featuring Ramsie Joab, Pohnpei State Sports Development Officer, Mr. Johnny David Jr., Chairman of the Pohnpei Sports Commissioner, and Mr. Derrick Iehsi, Treasurer, recently convened with Governor Stevenson A. Joseph to provide updates on the state’s readiness for the upcoming Micronesian Games scheduled for July 2024 in Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands.

The primary objective of the meeting was to present a comprehensive overview of the proposed budget for Pohnpei’s participation in the Micronesian Games. The proposed budget outlines the allocation of resources to ensure a successful representation, envisioning a total delegation of 232 individuals, including athletes, coaches, and support staff. The approval of this budget is now pending the endorsement of Governor Joseph and the 11th Pohnpei Legislature.

The Pohnpei Sports Commission is actively engaged in the meticulous process of identifying and confirming athletes who will proudly represent the State of Pohnpei in the 12 sporting competitions scheduled for the Micronesian Games. The delegation discussed the ongoing efforts to recruit and prepare a formidable team, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Pohnpei’s sporting prowess.
